Professor Jenny Gregory AM is a well-known historian who has made a significant contribution to Australian history, especially urban history, planning history, heritage studies and Western Australian history, through her six books and edited collections and many articles and chapters. She is best known for her work as Editor-in-Chief of the Historical Encyclopedia of Western Australia (2010)
Following publication of her book City of Light: A history of Perth since the 1950s, she became increasingly interested in the impact of resource booms on the city and the concept of energy cities. Her initial analysis of the role of Perth as a global energy city, ‘Scoping Perth as an Energy Capital’, was published in Martin Melosi and Joe Pratt (eds), Energy Capitals: Local Impact Global Influence, University of Pittsburgh Press, USA, in 2014.
Amongst her PhD students is UWA Energy and Minerals Institute, Adjunct Research Fellow Andrew Pickford who is researching the energy history of Western Australia with a particular focus on the creation and establishment of the LNG industry.
