This testing facility is capable of quantifying the reaction kinetics and composition of gases produced from solid and liquid fuels, the high pressure thermo-gravimetric analyser can simulate the gasification process of a range of materials, including municipal waste, heavy oil and petroleum residue.

One of only two of its kind in Australia, the facility is a key capability in the development of technologies to convert coal, biomass, heavy oil and other organic waste feedstock into synthetic natural gas.

“This facility is supporting the development of alternative energy options and new energy technologies in a carbon-constrained world,”
said Energy Centre Director, Winthrop Professor Dongke Zhang.
