Led by Professor Matthew Tonts, UWA’s Centre for Regional Development is focused on understanding and resolving some of the major economic, social and environmental challenges facing Australia’s regions and urban centres.

Since its creation in 1999, the Centre has undertaken research for a range of government agencies, community organisations, natural resource management groups and private enterprise.

The Centre is a prolific producer of reports and studies into issues which are vital to continued successful regional development. These include regional and urban policy, regional and urban planning, environmental planning and management and regional economic and social analysis.
