The Centre for Exploration Targeting (CET) is an applied research enterprise in UWA’s School of Earth and Environment and focused on increasing  both the rate and quality of mineral discoveries through innovative and cost-effective developments in exploration and resource management.

Led by Professor Campbell McCuaig, CET centre brings together staff from academic and applied geoscience and from economics comprises, to form one of the largest research groups world-wide devoted to issues of mineral resource exploration and competitiveness.

The CET has operated since 2007 integrating Western Australia's leading universities - UWA and Curtin - with a diverse base of industry members. The Centre maintains a broad funding base of competitive grants from national and international agencies, research council support, and direct partnership with industry, in individually tailored research projects and in consortia.

Alongside its substantial portfolio of research activities, CET also provides significant mentoring and training opportunities in applied Earth Science and Resource Economics. Specialised training programmes are also available in Exploration Management, Applied Structural Geology, Exploration Targeting, Ore Deposit Genesis, and Mineral Economics, including a range of  short courses.

Recent CET highlights include an impressive performance at the Unearthed 2014 'mining hackathon', and a new book co-authored  by staff member Winthrop Professor Mike Dentith
