The Australian Centre for Geomechanics (ACG) is a not-for-profit mining research centre based at The University of Western Australia.
It is led by Professor Yves Potvin and aims to ensure safer working environments and deliver value for Australia's extractive resource industries through research and education in the field of geomechanics.
ACG was established in 1992 and since then has delivered many notable benefits through quality research and effective transfer and adoption of developed technology.
ACG also promotes the effective application of the principles and practices of geomechanics by industry through innovative training initiatives, including workshops and a program that integrates research, education and training.
Through its research, education and training initiatives ACG provides industry with the necessary tools and knowledge to ensure that safety (in areas related to geomechanics) is not simply a top priority on par with productivity, but rather an ethic that guides all activities.
